A bit of journalism followed by a stint of in-house PR. Then a move into agency life before founding Templemere PR a very, very long time ago.

What is your pet peeve?

“Strategic reviews” that are an excuse to stop making decisions.

What is the last book you read and why?

Sarah Dunant’s “In the name of the family” – I have something of a crush on Cesare Borgia.

Where did your passion for PR start?

In my first PR job in the corporate communications department of drinks company Scottish & Newcastle.

What key skills do you bring to the team?

Expert plate-spinning.

What is your key personality trait?

Honesty. Sometimes welcome, sometimes not.

What is your favourite word?

“Thanks”.

What do you do in your spare time?

Mountain biking, dressage, cooking, skiing and gardening, not all equally successfully.

I get annoyed by…

Complacency.

What is your favourite fact?

More people in the US have been killed by their toaster than have died in terrorist attacks.

If you could go back in time and give yourself a piece of advice, what would it be?

The harder you work, the luckier you get.
