The Apprentice Blog 2.0: Why it's better to be busy

Hello and welcome back to Stella’s apprentice blog.

Templemere HQ has been rather busy lately for me. From assisting with an extensive website refresh to preparation and support leading up to a big event in the travel retail industry, I’ve really been kept on my toes – which is great. I’m a real advocate for on-the-job learning. Books just can’t teach you everything!

Although being busy can be daunting for a junior in PR (or even senior), I wanted to focus this month’s blog around some of the great positives of having a busy and varied schedule.

Firstly, it means you naturally get more involved with a broader range of tasks within the business, which could include event management, written communications and more. Broadening your responsibilities means you become a more well-rounded member of the team. Not to mention, it’s just fun to have some variety.

Picking up these additional tasks also means you’re more likely to rise through the ranks within your company, over a period of time. This is because you have more opportunities to prove your abilities and really showcase where your strengths lie.

Finally, being busy can really help with time management, planning and prioritising skills. Having a lot on makes it necessary to plan and prioritise tasks effectively, which in turn makes life a lot easier, and a little less stressful.

No matter how busy you get and for however long, it’s vital not to let the less urgent or important tasks die out…like keeping up to date with your monthly blog!

Hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned for the next one.
